Active Compassion

Recognizing the spiritual and social needs within our community, we commit ourselves to actively promote the dignity of all God’s children as we reach out to those in need. The mission of Christ is our model: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; he has anointed me to tell the good news to the poor. He has sent me to announce release to the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to set oppressed people free and to announce the year of the Lord's favour." (Luke 4:18-19)

Love others as Christ loves us!

We are St. Patrick Parish, a Roman Catholic Church in the heart of the City of Hamilton, Ontario. Our community is a mosaic of cultures and spiritualities. We are called to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ by actively embracing our Baptismal commitment. We gather around the table of the Word and Eucharist to be nourished and strengthened as a family of faith, and then we are sent forth to put our prayer into action. We strive to live out of a missionary spirit that focuses our ministry on the poor and marginalized in our midst. We share our faith through hospitality and fellowship, actively embracing the call to compassion by loving others as Christ loves us. “Dilexit nos et tradidit semetipsum” “Christ loves us and gave himself up for us” Eph 5:2

Catholic Faith

We commit to remaining faithful to the true teaching of the Catholic Church. We embrace the vision of the Church proclaimed by the Second Vatican Council. We believe in continuous formation in faith as a way of understanding our personal and communal relationship with Christ and his Church. The Eucharistic celebration is the source and summit of our lives.

Hospitality

We believe that a warm welcoming attitude is a first step to building fellowship and meaningful relationships within our community. We acknowledge the variety of cultures and backgrounds in our community and strive to treat every person with respect and care, as brothers and sisters in Christ.

Next Generation

Our children and youth have an important part in the life of our community. We value Catholic education. Therefore, we commit to good and faithful cooperation with the Catholic Schools of our parish. We strive to offer our young people a life-giving experience of the living Church, forming them as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Discipleship

At the end of his earthly journey Jesus said to his followers. "Go and make disciples!" We welcome the great commission of Christ and strive to grow as his disciples as we reach out to those who are searching for their spiritual home. We promote active participation in the life of our faith community.
