Sacraments · First Communion & Confirmation

Growing up
in the faith.

First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation — the sacraments children and youth receive as their faith takes root.

How it works

  1. Enrol through the parish office

Registration typically opens at the start of the school year. Online enrolment is coming; for now the office registers families directly — call 905‑522‑9828 or email parishoffice@stpatrickshamilton.ca.

  2. Preparation

Most children prepare for these sacraments through their Catholic school. If your child is not in a Catholic school, contact the parish office at 905‑522‑9828 or parishoffice@stpatrickshamilton.ca.

  3. Celebrate the sacraments

First Communion is usually celebrated in the spring; Confirmation is conferred by the Bishop. If your child does not attend St. Patrick's school, call or email the office for dates.

What you'll need

  • A copy of the child's baptismal certificate (if baptized outside St. Patrick's).
  • Children usually begin First Communion preparation around Grade 2, and Confirmation around Grade 7.
  • Older children and teens who have missed a sacrament are always welcome — formation simply meets them where they are.
