De Mazenod Door Outreach is a CRA registered non-profit charitable organization and is a ministry of St. Patrick Church. The Door runs seven days a week, 365 days a year, and without the time, effort and gifts of our volunteers, we simply would not be able to provide this ministry. Volunteers are the lifeline of our parish and ministries and we recognize and appreciate their invaluable contributions.
Through Screening in Faith, a program mandated by the Diocese that we use to screen potential volunteers, we provide support and protection to our volunteers. Our actions as volunteers and as a Church while performing our ministries, should be guided at all times by our goal – the protection and safety of vulnerable people, our volunteers and our Church.
De Mazenod Door Outreach is fully dependent on its volunteer base. Volunteers are properly screened, registered, interviewed, oriented and then scheduled, depending upon their preference of program, ministry, event or day of the week (weekday vs. weekend). Volunteers can choose to be on site regularly (weekly or monthly), based on their schedule and our need. Some volunteers choose to do pick-ups or cooking meals for daily lunches.
Oblate Mission with Youth, also part of De Mazenod Door Outreach, needs volunteers to be involved in our weekly Kids’ Klub, Youth Group and Time Travellers program during Mass (for children who have not yet had their First Communion). Part of our mandate is we MUST provide a safe space for children to learn and have fun, and to do that we need more volunteers. We are also in need of volunteers from time to time for special events involving these groups.
